The story behind the Bird Poop is posted separately so you won’t have to scroll what seems like miles and miles down a post just to get to a recipe you wanted in a hurry.
Bird Poop Appetizer :
- 1 can chopped black olives, drained
- 1 oz pkg cream cheese, softened*
- Ritz crackers (or Wheat Thins, if you prefer)
Combine olives and cream cheese by mashing with a fork, adding mayonnaise as you go, enough to keep the “poop” a soft, smooth consistency and make it easy to scoop with a soft cracker like Ritz.
*Be careful not to add too much mayo, it’s flavor will be overbearing and take over the other flavors. Usually I use about 2 Tablespoons to no more than 1/4 C mayonnaise. Another note: The low fat variety of cream cheese tends to be much softer, without losing any flavor, so one wouldn’t need to add as much, if any mayonnaise.
Bird Poop is excellent served on a Ritz, Wheat Thin Crackers, or my personal favorite, on soft, fresh Italian bread. Just about anything that is mildly flavored, but not too much as to over power the melding of cream cheese with black olives. It’s a taste that can’t be described, you’ll just have to try it and see for yourself.
